Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) or DAF Systems is a water treatment process used to remove suspended solids, oils, and greases from wastewater or industrial effluent. It operates by introducing air into a pressurized stream of water which causes microscopic air bubbles to attach to the suspended particles, making them float to the surface of the water where they can be removed.
The DAF process involves the following steps:
● Coagulation and Flocculation: The wastewater is mixed with a coagulating agent and a flocculant to cause the suspended particles to come together and form larger particles called flocs.
● Dissolved Air: Compressed air is injected into the wastewater stream, which causes the flocs to float to the surface.
● Separation: The floating flocs are removed from the surface of the water using a skimming mechanism.
● Sludge Removal: The sludge that accumulates at the bottom of the DAF tank is periodically removed to prevent build-up and maintain efficiency.
The working principle of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) involves the introduction of air into a pressurized stream of water, which saturates the water with dissolved air. The pressurized water is then released into a tank or vessel where the pressure is reduced, causing the dissolved air to come out of the solution in the form of tiny bubbles. The bubbles attach to the suspended solids, oils, and greases in the wastewater, causing them to float to the surface of the water.
We are the largest Dissolved Air Flotation manufacturer in India and we develop each components of dissolved air flotation from the best material so that it can remain long-lasting which are described below-
● Pressure and Release System: The pressure and release system is responsible for introducing compressed air into the wastewater stream to saturate the water with dissolved air. The system typically consists of an air compressor, a pressure vessel, and a release valve.
● Mixing and Coagulation/Flocculation Tank: In this tank, coagulants and flocculants are added to the wastewater to promote the formation of larger particles, called flocs, which are easier to separate from the water.
● DAF Tank: The DAF tank is where the actual flotation takes place. The pressurized and air-saturated water is released into the tank, causing the dissolved air to come out of the solution in the form of tiny bubbles. The bubbles attach to the flocs and suspended solids, causing them to float to the surface of the water.
● Skimming Mechanism: The skimming mechanism collects the floating material and removes it from the tank. There are several types of skimmers, including weir skimmers, skimmer cones, and floatation bags.
● Sludge Removal System: The sludge that accumulates at the bottom of the DAF tank is periodically removed to prevent build-up and maintain efficiency. The sludge can be treated or disposed of depending on its characteristics and local regulations.
● Control System: The control system monitors and controls the operation of the DAF system, including the flow rate, pressure, and chemical dosing.
We are a DAF systems manufacturer and supplier who manufacture and supplies dissolved air flotation in the market and we assure all the support to our clients and also the outstanding performance of our product has made us the most reputed brand in the market. There are many reasons why one should opt for our dissolved air flotation-
● Delivers top-notch performance- Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology is widely recognized for its top-notch performance in removing suspended solids, oils, greases, and some dissolved contaminants from wastewater.
● High solid removal rate- DAF systems can achieve removal efficiencies of up to 99% for suspended solids, oils, and greases.
● Easy to operate and maintain: Low operating costs: DAF systems require relatively low operating costs compared to other treatment technologies, as they do not require large amounts of chemicals or energy.
● Flexibility: DAF technology can be used for a variety of applications, including municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, food processing, and oil and gas operations.
● Easy to operate and maintain: DAF systems are relatively easy to operate and maintain, with simple control systems and low maintenance requirements.
Question.1 What is a Dissolved Air Flotation system?
Answer: A Dissolved Air Flotation system is a water treatment process used to remove suspended solids, oils, and greases from water. It works by introducing fine bubbles of compressed air into the water, which attach to the suspended particles and cause them to float to the surface for removal.
Question.2 What are the benefits of a DAF system?
Answer: The benefits of a DAF system include: effective removal of suspended solids, oils, and greases; reduced chemical consumption compared to other treatment methods; smaller footprint compared to traditional sedimentation basins; and improved water clarity.
Question.3 What types of industries use DAF systems?
Answer: DAF systems are used in various industries, including food and beverage, pulp and paper, oil and gas, mining, and municipal wastewater treatment.
Question.4 How does a DAF system compare to other water treatment methods?
Answer: DAF systems have several advantages over other water treatment methods, including a smaller footprint, reduced chemical consumption, and effective removal of a wide range of contaminants.
